View Tooling Center Equipment List Competitive pressures may require faster turnaround times. To shorten development cycles, we offer multiple tooling options to fit your specific situation. Our tooling options include silicone molds, quick turnaround tools and production molds.

Silicone Molds
Silicone molds are produced using a model of the part. The mold accurately recreates the part geometry, although the tolerances are slightly wider than with other molding technologies. The material cast into these molds is a clear urethane, which is more durable than models produced in the SLA, SLS, or FDM processes.

Silicone molds are suitable for designer part review, production process development, automation development, sales/marketing presentations, and final product mock-ups. This type of mold generally produces up to 30 parts. They are relatively inexpensive and can usually be turned around in 5-7 business days.

Quick Turnaround Tools
This style of tooling is produced using a variety of proprietary techniques, including laminate tool construction, common component inserts, and computer-implemented fast track machining. The selection of tool style is based on the purpose and number of parts required. Tool construction is determined by a matrix of factors including lead-time, number of parts, material desired, part geometry and tolerances. Advantages to using quick turnaround tools include print specified materials, parts per print and the ability to maintain an aggressive timeline.

Production Molds
Production molds can be tailored to meet your project requirements. The type of steel selected is based on the molding material, the anticipated project life and the cooling requirements of the part. Examples of steel types used by WADAL Plastics include S-7, 420 SS, H-13, and P-20. We also design and build molds with special features including automatic unthreading, hot runners, slides and lifters.

Transferring Part Production (Takeover Tools)
Transferring your part production from another molder is easy with our streamlined process. Our well-trained molders analyze your tool requirements, production timeline and existing inventory levels. We also review any quality issues or pending mold changes already in progress.

Once we have your preliminary information, we prepare the mold in our in-house tool room and sample parts are produced for your review. If adaptations are required, changes can be made quickly, usually without interrupting your delivery timeline. After production is underway, work instructions and output quality are continually monitored for specification consistency.

Transferring your part production does not have to be cumbersome or stressful. Let WADAL Plastics help you make a seamless transition.
